During the third quarter of this year, Spanish exports of fruit and vegetables have sharply risen.
The increase is 13% by volume, totaling 1.5 million tons and 41% in value, for a total of € 1,303,000.
This increase is attributable to the performance of stone fruits, whose exports grew 21% in the third quarter of 2010. Melons and watermelons grew by 44% and reached 255,157 tons.
The increase in the 3rd quarter of 2010 did not offset declines in previous months. From January to September, export volumes fell 4% over the same period of 2009, totaling 6.4 million tons. Yet the value of exports this year has increased by 10%, totaling € 6,081,000.
