Purple sprouting broccoli from Dutch company Bejo will take part in the Fruit Logisitica Innovation Award.
The new broccoli has a surpising purple colour and several varieties are available for cultivation in summer, autumn and winter. It combines the distinct flavor of broccoli with a delicate taste of asparagus. Shoots have a length of about 10-15 cm and can be easily packed.
Its color is expected to attract new customers and increase sales. In England, Purple Broccoli is available all year round and organic production has just begun in the Netherlands.
