Bart’s Potato Company are currently in the process sourcing renewable energy, which will come from an on-site biomass green energy power generation facility to further reduce the Companies impact on the environment.
 Due online in the first quarter of 2008, it will supply 100% of the electricity used by Bart’s Potato Company and will be fueled with potato and other organic waste therefore reducing the Companies carbon footprint and assisting in the fight against global warming.
Renewable energy will be produced from Biomass in on the Lamaire - Bart's Potato Company site in Westvleteren.
Residues and waste from the potato and vegetable processing industry are converted by biological fermentation into biogas, which is fed to 2 gas engines, each with an electricity generation capacity of 836 kW.
